About ITW files

An .ITW file is most commonly an InstallShield Tuner workspace file. This format is a proprietary project file used by IT administrators to create customized installations for Windows applications. The file saves your progress when configuring an MSI (Windows Installer) package - allowing you to modify settings, remove features, or add files without altering the original installer. However, you cannot use an .ITW file for actual deployment. To use it, you must open the file in InstallShield or the specific Tuner application provided by the software vendor and "compile" or save it as a MST (Transform) file. The MST is the actual file used alongside the MSI during deployment (e.g., via Group Policy or SCCM).

Alternatively, an .ITW file may be a legacy InTouch With database file. This was a Personal Information Manager (PIM) for older Macintosh systems. These files are now obsolete and difficult to open without legacy software emulation or specialized extraction tools to convert the data to CSV or vCard. A third possibility is a firmware update file for ALI Corporation satellite receivers, which is a binary system file that should not be edited or converted, but rather loaded directly onto the device via USB or serial connection.

Convert.Guru analyzes your ITW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted FF3, LCE and AUC files.

The ITW Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ITW converter.
