About ITU files
The .ITU file extension is used for two completely distinct, highly specialized purposes. The most common use (72%) is as a construction project takeoff file for ConstructConnect (formerly iSqFt). These files store bidding, estimation, and blueprint takeoff data using an underlying XML structure. The second use (11%) is as a satellite network filing database created by the ITU SpaceCap software, which relies on a standard Microsoft JetDB engine to store telecommunication parameters.
These files have major disadvantages. They are deeply proprietary and tied to extremely niche industry software. A construction worker cannot easily share an iSqFt takeoff with a subcontractor who lacks an expensive ConstructConnect subscription. Similarly, space industry professionals struggle to extract satellite filing data without the specific SpaceCap environment installed on their machine.
To overcome these limits, users often need to convert .ITU files to accessible formats. For construction files, converting the raw XML data into a CSV or XLSX file allows data analysis in Microsoft Excel. For satellite databases, extracting the JetDB contents into MDB or SQL formats enables broader database queries. Be aware that proprietary formatting, blueprint visual elements, and specific layout logic will be lost during extraction.
Because .ITU files are closed and proprietary, standard online converters fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, you can use convert.guru as your first step. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects the supported underlying XML or JetDB embedded formats, viewing or conversion to common data formats may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ITU file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ITU file to MP4, AVI, MOV, WMV, FLV, WEBM, MKV, M4V, 3GP, OGV, ASF or RM, you can use ConstructConnect or similar software from the "Specialized Industry Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MTS, MOV, RMVB, DIVX, RM, H264, TS, WMV, VOB, MP4, XVID or AVI files to ITU, try ConstructConnect or another comparable tool in the "Specialized Industry Data Storage" category.
The ITU Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ITU converter.
