About IPROJECT files

An .IPROJECT file is a proprietary 3D animation project created by Reallusion iClone. It stores complete 3D scenes, including avatars, motion-capture animations, props, lighting setups, and camera tracks. This format is heavily restricted to the Reallusion ecosystem. The main disadvantage is that files often exceed several gigabytes and cannot be natively imported into standard 3D modeling tools like Blender or Autodesk Maya. Users without an active, expensive software license cannot open, edit, or view these scenes.

To use the 3D assets elsewhere, users must convert the data. The best targets are universal 3D formats like FBX for rigged characters and skeletal animations, OBJ for static meshes, or MP4 for rendered video output. Note that specific iClone physics settings, soft-cloth simulations, and proprietary shader data are usually lost during export.

This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert outside of its native environment. It is a closed, proprietary format, meaning only the original iClone software can properly read, render, or export the complex 3D engine data. Standard online converters fail to process it. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your IPROJECT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The IPROJECT Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our IPROJECT converter.
