A .iht file is a proprietary project file used by specialized engineering software. It typically stores data for either Interactive Heat Transfer (IHT) software or EQUA's IDA Indoor Climate and Energy (IDA ICE). These files contain complex building simulation models, mathematical solver configurations, and thermodynamics project data.
The major disadvantage of the .iht format is its strict dependency on expensive, specialized software. You cannot open it natively in Windows or macOS, and standard web browsers or document viewers cannot read the engineering data. Sharing these files with clients or colleagues who do not have an active IDA ICE or IHT license is practically impossible without exporting the data first.
Because it is a closed format tied to specific simulation engines, typical online converters fail to process .iht files. You usually must export the data directly from the original software to share it as a PDF report or a CSV spreadsheet.
