About IDR files

The .IDR file extension is primarily associated with PTC Arbortext IsoDraw, a professional CAD application used to create high-quality 2D technical illustrations, spare parts catalogs, and assembly instructions. These files contain vector graphics, known as "Intelligent Graphics," which allow for interactive features like clickable hotspots on part numbers.

The main problem users face with .IDR files is their proprietary nature. They are not compatible with standard image viewers, web browsers (without a plugin), or Adobe Creative Cloud apps like Illustrator. To view or share these drawings with clients or colleagues who don't have a PTC license, you must convert them.

For documentation and printing, the best target is PDF or EPS. For web publishing and interactive manuals, converting to SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is the industry standard. If you need to edit the geometry in other CAD software (like AutoCAD), converting to DXF or CGM is recommended to preserve vector paths.

Convert.Guru analyzes your IDR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted EMZ, TGA, DCM, SGD and MYR files.
