About HTZ files

An .HTZ file is primarily a website archive file created by HTTrack Website Copier, a utility used to download complete websites for offline browsing. Less commonly, the extension is used as a Priority Encrypted File managed by Priority ERP software.

When used by HTTrack, the software bundles downloaded HTML, images, and directory structures into a single .HTZ container. However, this format presents immediate usability disadvantages. Because it relies on a non-standard file extension, native operating systems and modern web browsers fail to recognize it. Users cannot simply double-click the file to browse the offline site, creating a frustrating bottleneck that typically requires installing the original desktop application just to view basic web data.

To make this archived data accessible, the best approach is converting the .HTZ container to a standard ZIP archive or extracting its contents directly into standard HTML, PNG, and CSS files. This guarantees universal access on any device without relying on specialized offline browsing tools.

This file format is difficult to open because systems do not automatically map the extension to their native unzipping utilities. Furthermore, if your specific file is the Priority Encrypted variant, it is completely locked; only the original software and security credentials can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying ZIP format, extracting the embedded web files is quick and straightforward.

Convert.Guru analyzes your HTZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted HTML, DCI, METADATA-V2 and RO files.
