To convert other file formats to the "HTML Template File" file type, you need software like Microsoft Internet Explorer or a similar tool.
About HTT files
A .HTT file is primarily known as a HyperText Template file originally developed by Microsoft for Internet Explorer and older Windows operating systems. It was used to customize the web view of Windows folders, combining standard HTML with specific system variables to display folder contents. A secondary, but active, use case is the Automotive tuning template file used by HP Tuners within their VCM Suite. This specialized variant stores customized vehicle engine and transmission calibration settings. You need to convert legacy Microsoft .HTT files because they are completely obsolete. They rely on deprecated ActiveX controls and are unsupported by modern web browsers like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Furthermore, old .HTT files represent a security risk, as they were frequently exploited by early malware. The best target formats for the legacy web templates are standard HTML or TXT, which strips the dangerous active components while retaining the core text and layout. The HP Tuners variant, conversely, is a closed, proprietary binary format. It requires expensive software to open, and standard online converters always fail to process it because the internal structure is undocumented. This makes the file format incredibly difficult to open or convert without the original software. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible on convert.guru.
Convert.Guru analyzes your HTT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert HTT file to SYS, DLL, EXE, DRV, VXD, 386, COM, BAT, CMD, SCR, PIF or LNK, you can use Microsoft Internet Explorer or similar software from the "Web Template or Vehicle Tuning" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MSI, EXE, REG, MST, LNK, CAB, CAT, DRV, INF, SYS, MSU or DLL files to HTT, try Microsoft Internet Explorer or another comparable tool in the "Web Template or Vehicle Tuning" category.
The HTT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our HTT converter.
