Convert a file to HSR
To convert other file formats to the "Accounting Data Archive" file type, you need software like Sage HandiSoft or a similar tool.
About HSR files
The .HSR file extension is primarily associated with Sage HandiSoft, an accounting and tax software suite widely used by financial professionals. In this context, .HSR files function as compressed data archives containing tax reports, client backups, and accounting ledgers. Because these files are proprietary, sharing them with clients who do not pay for a Sage HandiSoft subscription is highly problematic. Users typically need to convert .HSR files to standard formats like PDF, CSV, or XLSX for accessibility. Interestingly, the underlying structure of a HandiSoft .HSR file is a standard ZIP archive. This means you can often bypass the software lock-in by renaming the extension to ZIP and extracting the internal XML or text files.
Secondary uses for the .HSR format include game replays for Heroes of Newerth (HoN) and telemetry data files for GoPro HERO cameras. HoN replay files are particularly frustrating for users because they contain raw game engine coordinates and player inputs, not actual video data. Standard online converters cannot convert an .HSR game replay into an MP4 video because the file requires the original game engine to render the graphics. Similarly, GoPro .HSR files store high-speed metadata alongside the primary video clip and are not meant to be played directly.
Opening or converting .HSR files is difficult because they rely on closed, proprietary schemas or specific game engines. Generic online tools fail because they lack these specialized decoders. Just drag and drop your .HSR file into convert.guru. We will analyze the internal structure to determine whether it is an accounting archive, game replay, or metadata file. If our system detects a supported embedded format - like the underlying ZIP container in accounting files - viewing the internal contents or converting them to more accessible formats may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your HSR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The HSR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our HSR converter.
