About HIB files
The .HIB file format is a proprietary backup archive generated by home inventory software from Radium Technologies and Home Inventory Pro. Users create these files to safely store databases of household possessions, warranty details, and photographic evidence for insurance purposes. The primary disadvantage of the .HIB format is its closed, proprietary nature. If you cancel your software subscription or switch to a new computer, you cannot natively open these files. The format is not supported by web browsers, standard text editors, or default operating system viewers. Standard online converters frequently fail to process it because the file relies on the original software's internal database structure to render the records correctly. Fortunately, the internal structure of an .HIB file is actually a standard ZIP compressed container. By extracting the archive, you can recover individual files like JPG photos of your items and PDF receipts. You may also find raw XML or CSV database files. Because this is a locked application format, converting it directly into a fully formatted PDF or XLSX spreadsheet with one click is rarely perfect. Often only the original software can properly read or export the structured data. However, just drag and drop your file to identify the format on convert.guru. We can inspect the file, detect the underlying ZIP structure, and allow you to view or extract embedded contents when supported.
Convert.Guru analyzes your HIB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The HIB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our HIB converter.
