About HHT files

The .HHT file is a proprietary concept map data file primarily created by IHMC CmapTools. It functions as a structured container used to store nodes, relationships, and visual formatting for knowledge mapping. A secondary, much older use case is the Help and Support Center format used by Microsoft. The major disadvantage of the .HHT format is its highly specific, closed ecosystem. Files cannot be opened by standard web browsers, text editors, or universal image viewers. Sharing an .HHT file with a client or student requires them to download and install specialized software just to view a single diagram. To solve this, users must convert .HHT maps into standard presentation formats like PDF, JPG, or SVG. However, this file format is difficult to open or convert externally. Because the spatial layout engine is proprietary, standard online converters fail to process it accurately. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the visual data. If our analysis detects the supported underlying XML structure, viewing or partial conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your HHT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted JPG files.
