About HAP files

The .HAP file extension primarily represents the HarmonyOS Ability Package, a deployment format used by Huawei for its operating system. These files are technically standard ZIP archives containing the compiled code (ArkTS/JS), resources, and configuration files (pack.info) required to install an app on HarmonyOS devices. Users often encounter these when downloading apps manually or developing with DevEco Studio. A common problem is that standard operating systems do not associate .hap with archive managers, making them appear as unreadable binary files. Simply renaming the extension to ZIP allows immediate access to the contents.

Alternatively, a .HAP file may be a proprietary data file generated by Helmut Fischer instrumentation software, specifically WIN-HCU, used for material hardness testing and coating thickness analysis. These files store raw measurement data from X-ray fluorescence (XRF) or nanoindentation devices. They are not intended for direct editing and are often locked to the specific software version. Users typically need to convert these findings into CSV, Excel, or PDF formats for reporting and interoperability, a process usually performed via the "Export" function within the native WIN-HCU or WinFTM software.

Convert.Guru analyzes your HAP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted MOV, E3A, MP4, JRC, CRU and BOA files.

The HAP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our HAP converter.
