About GXC files

The .GXC extension is shared by two distinct industrial tools, creating a frequent point of confusion for engineers and technicians. Most commonly, it acts as a Gas Analyzer Calibration file generated by Gasmet for their Calcmet software. These files store critical calibration spectra and component libraries for FTIR gas analysis. The biggest obstacle is proprietary lock-in: these are specialized scientific files that cannot be viewed, printed, or analyzed without the specific, often licensed, vendor software. You cannot simply double-click them to check a calibration date or spectral baseline on a standard office PC.

The second common variant is a DLMS/COSEM Device Profile created by Gurux for GXDLMSDirector. While the internal structure is often standard XML, the .GXC extension prevents operating systems from recognizing them as text. Users often struggle to open them in standard code editors, believing the file is corrupt or binary.

For Gasmet calibration files, the ideal conversion target is CSV or XLSX, allowing you to audit calibration curves in Microsoft Excel, or .PDF/A for creating immutable compliance records. For Gurux files, converting to standard XML or JSON instantly makes the device profile readable and editable in tools like VS Code or web browsers.

Convert.Guru analyzes your GXC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted MCCS, GPX and FMF files.

FAQ

If you want to convert GXC file to DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT, X_T or X_B, you can use Calcmet or similar software from the "Instrument Calibration Settings" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to GXC, try Calcmet or another comparable tool in the "Instrument Calibration Settings" category.

The GXC Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GXC converter.
