A .GSN file primarily functions as a Cyberboard Game Scenario, serving as the initialization file for turn-based wargames played via the Cyberboard software. These files dictate the starting positions of units, terrain configurations, and game parameters.
The primary problem for users is the format's strict dependency on the Gamebox (.GBX) file. You cannot open or view a .GSN file in isolation; the exact version of the parent GBX file must be installed and loaded first. This proprietary lock-in makes sharing scenario setups with non-Cyberboard users impossible without conversion. Additionally, older .GSN files may experience compatibility issues with modern versions of the software (Cyberboard 3.0+), leading to corrupted board states.
