Convert a file to GSL
To convert other file formats to the "Configuration Data File" file type, you need software like Yokogawa SMARTDAC+ or a similar tool.
About GSL files
The .GSL file extension is heavily fragmented across multiple industries. It is primarily used as a Recorder Configuration Data file for Yokogawa SMARTDAC+ Recorders and gas sensors. Alternatively, it functions as a synchronization job state file for GoodSync, a sync log for Insync, or a business process model for Software AG ARIS.
Users typically require specific, proprietary software to open these files, such as the GX10-1E Configurator for Yokogawa hardware or the GoodSync desktop client for sync states. This creates significant bottlenecks. Users need to convert .GSL files because they are locked into isolated ecosystems. Yokogawa configuration files cannot be easily read by non-Yokogawa hardware, and ARIS model files require expensive enterprise software licenses to view. You cannot natively view a .GSL file in a web browser or standard office software, making it difficult to share hardware logs or sync states with IT support teams.
The best conversion targets depend on the internal structure of the specific file. If the .GSL file is a plain text log from Insync, converting it to TXT or CSV is ideal for reading the data. If it contains proprietary binary data from ARIS or Yokogawa, conversion to standard formats like XML or PDF is often impossible without the original software, and you will lose hardware-specific metadata during forced conversions.
This file format is notoriously difficult to convert because it is a closed, proprietary format heavily tied to its parent software. Often, only the original application can properly read or export the data. Standard online converters fail to process it. Even if direct conversion fails, we identify the exact format, inspect the internal hex or text content, and allow you to view underlying text structures so you can salvage critical data without buying expensive software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GSL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert GSL file to EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP, SAV or DAT, you can use Yokogawa SMARTDAC+ or similar software from the "Configuration and Sync State Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to GSL, try Yokogawa SMARTDAC+ or another comparable tool in the "Configuration and Sync State Data" category.
The GSL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GSL converter.
