About GLX files
A .GLX file is a proprietary data graph file created by the PASCO Xplorer GLX data logger. These files store scientific sensor data - such as temperature, voltage, or motion - collected during physics, chemistry, or biology experiments.
The files are natively opened and manipulated using PASCO's proprietary educational software, such as PASCO Capstone or SPARKvue. The main disadvantage of the .GLX format is its closed, proprietary nature. It creates strict vendor lock-in, meaning you cannot natively open these files in standard analysis tools like Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or Python pandas. Users are forced to maintain specific, often paid, software licenses simply to view their own raw experiment data.
The most practical solution is to convert .GLX files into universally accessible formats like CSV or TXT for data analysis, or PDF if you only need to preserve the visual graph.
However, this file format is notoriously difficult to convert. The proprietary encoding means standard online converters fail to read the internal data points. Often, only the original PASCO software can properly decode and export the data. We can identify the file format, inspect the internal file structure, and show readable text or embedded content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying format, viewing or data extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your GLX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The GLX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our GLX converter.
