About G3X files
The .G3X file is a RealFlight Content File utilized by the RealFlight RC flight simulator developed by Knife Edge Software. These files act as proprietary archives containing custom community-created content, such as radio-controlled aircraft models, helicopters, custom flying sites, textures, and physics data. Users often need to convert or extract .G3X files to access the underlying 3D meshes (like OBJ or FBX) or textures (like DDS or PNG) for editing in 3D software like Blender. However, the .G3X format is a closed, proprietary package. It requires the original RealFlight simulator to properly import and deploy the files. Standard online converters cannot process these files because the internal directory structure and compression methods are undocumented. Our tool will inspect the binary structure. If our analysis detects standard embedded formats like raw textures or text-based physics parameters, viewing or partial extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your G3X file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted AIRPORT, AIRPORTS and HELI files.

The G3X Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our G3X converter.
