About FWB files
The .fwb extension is a classic example of a "filename collision," where one extension serves three distinct, incompatible software ecosystems.
JustSystems Ichitaro Document (Most Common): The file is likely a word processing document created by Ichitaro, Japan's leading alternative to Microsoft Word. These files often contain vertical text layouts and Japanese-specific formatting that standard Western word processors (like Word or Google Docs) fail to render correctly. The catch is regional lock-in; unless you possess a licensed copy of Ichitaro, the file is a "black box."
Xyris FoodWorks Database: It may be a nutritional analysis file from FoodWorks. Under the hood, this is often a JetDB (Microsoft Access) database. Users typically need to convert this to CSV or XLSX to manipulate the nutritional data in spreadsheets without paying for specialized industry software.
Firewall Builder Object: A smaller percentage of files are XML configurations for Firewall Builder. While these can be opened in text editors, the raw code is difficult to interpret visually. For Ichitaro files, convert to PDF (to preserve layout) or DOCX (for editing). For FoodWorks, convert to XLS to access the raw data tables.
