The .FSL extension is a battleground between modern vehicle diagnostics and legacy database management, often leaving users confused about which tool to use.
Most commonly, an .FSL file is a FORScan Streaming Log generated by FORScan, a software suite used to analyze diagnostic data from Ford, Mazda, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles. These files record real-time sensor data (PIDs) during a driving session. The primary disadvantage is that raw FSL files are proprietary and strictly tied to the FORScan interface. You cannot simply double-click them to open a spreadsheet. To analyze your vehicle's performance - such as boost pressure, fuel trim, or misfire counts - in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, you must convert the .FSL log into a CSV or XLSX format.
Alternatively, if the file dates back to the 90s or early 2000s, it is likely a Paradox Form file associated with Corel Paradox (formerly Borland). These files store the visual layout and logic of a database input form. They are notoriously difficult to access on modern Windows 10/11 systems without virtual machines or legacy software. Users dealing with these files typically need to convert them to PDF for archiving the form's design or extract the underlying logic to Text to migrate the database system.
