About FOC files

The .FOC file extension primarily acts as a proprietary data container for Laser Beam Diagnostic measurements recorded by Primes GmbH hardware, such as the FocusMonitor (FM+) and BeamMonitor. These files store high-precision raw data regarding laser beam geometry, focus position, and the beam quality factor (M²). Because the format is binary and locked to the manufacturer's ecosystem, users commonly have issues when trying to analyze this data in standard tools like Microsoft Excel or MATLAB. You cannot simply open a .FOC file in a spreadsheet; it must first be processed or exported.

To access the data, the pragmatic workaround is using the official LaserDiagnosticsSoftware (LDS) or the older LaserSys tools to view the beam profile and then "Export" the dataset to CSV (Comma-Separated Values) or PDF for reporting.

A secondary, less common use case (approx. 7%) involves Embedded System Fonts utilized by ALi Corporation chipsets found in older digital set-top boxes and DVD players. These files manage On-Screen Display (OSD) typography and are not compatible with Windows or macOS font managers. To modernize or edit these files, users can use specialized typography tools like High-Logic FontCreator to convert the proprietary .FOC font into a standard TTF or OTF file.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FOC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ATP, PTS and TST files.

The FOC Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FOC converter.
