About FND files
A .FND file typically serves one of two very different purposes, making it a frequent source of confusion for users without the original creating software. Most commonly, it is a Saved Search Criteria file generated by Copernic Desktop Search. In this context, the file acts as a small pointer or "recipe" containing the rules for a search (e.g., "find all PDFs created last week"), but it does not contain the actual files found. Users often try to "open" these expecting to see their documents, only to find a proprietary instruction set that requires the paid or free version of Copernic to function.
Alternatively, in industrial settings, an .FND file contains Pressure Calibration Data generated by Fluke Calibration software. These are binary data logs critical for compliance but unreadable by standard text editors.
A common problem with .FND files is their proprietary lock-in; a Copernic file is useless without the indexer, and a Fluke file is a "black box" without the analysis suite.
Best Conversion Targets:
For Inspection: Convert to TXT or XML to attempt to view the raw parameters or header data.
For Data Recovery (Fluke): If compatible, converting to CSV or XLSX is ideal for importing calibration points into Microsoft Excel.
For Sharing: Convert to PDF effectively acts as a screenshot of the search settings or data log.
Convert.Guru analyzes your FND file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert FND file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Copernic Desktop Search or similar software from the "Saved Search Criteria" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to FND, try Copernic Desktop Search or another comparable tool in the "Saved Search Criteria" category.
The FND Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FND converter.
