About FLU files

A .FLU file is a proprietary data export generated by Fluany, a browser extension used for memorizing vocabulary and lists while surfing the web. Technically, these files are standard JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) text files, but they use a unique extension that prevents them from being automatically recognized by standard text editors or spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel.

The primary difficulty for users is data portability. While Fluany is useful for browser-based learning, the .FLU format locks your study data into their specific ecosystem. Users often find themselves unable to migrate their hard-earned vocabulary lists to more robust spaced-repetition platforms like Anki or Quizlet. Additionally, opening a .FLU file in Excel results in a messy, unformatted text stream rather than a clean table of questions and answers.

For most users, the best workflow is converting the .FLU file to CSV. This allows you to edit your flashcards in a spreadsheet, print them, or import them into virtually any other study app. If you are a developer or want to preserve the raw data structure, converting to standard JSON or TXT is recommended.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FLU file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted IRL, LGC and VXML files.
