Extract text from FLK files
To convert your FLK file to another format, you need SimplyPats or other Data software.

The .FLK file extension serves two distinct, incompatible purposes that often confuse users.
Most commonly, a .FLK file is a raw data log exported from a Fluke 6500 or 6500-2 Portable Appliance Tester. These files contain critical compliance data - insulation resistance, earth bond, and leakage current results - saved directly to a CompactFlash card or USB drive.
The Problem: The file is a proprietary binary container. You cannot double-click to open it in Microsoft Excel or Notepad. To generate the mandatory safety certificates for your clients, the data must be processed.
The Solution: For professional reporting, these files must be imported into Fluke DMS (Data Management Software) or third-party solutions like SimplyPats. These programs parse the raw hex data and "convert" it into readable PDF certificates or CSV spreadsheets for archiving.
In business environments, .FLK files function as "lock files" for AccountEdge (formerly MYOB). These are temporary 1KB markers (e.g., lock0001.flk) that prevent multiple users from editing the same company file simultaneously.
The Problem: If the software crashes, these files get stuck, preventing anyone from logging in.
The Solution: You do not convert these. You delete them to restore access.
