About FIN files

A .fin file is a multi-purpose data container, most frequently serving as a SWIFT Financial Message representing banking transactions (like MT103 or MT940) in plain text. It often also appears as a Korean Patent Application created by KIPO e-Fine software, or as a legacy printer driver file for Corel WordPerfect.

The Challenge: SWIFT files contain raw, unformatted text blocks heavily reliant on banking codes, making them illegible to standard users and incompatible with basic office software. Similarly, KIPO files are specialized archives that require regional government software to open, while proprietary WordPerfect printer definitions are obsolete on modern operating systems.

The Solution:

Convert.Guru analyzes your FIN file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted FIN4, PDF, IMS, SCAN, LCP and VIN files.

The FIN Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FIN converter.
