About FHC files

A .FHC file primarily functions as a Fire Sprinkler Hydraulic Calculation file or FHC Data File. Engineers use these files to store complex pipe network data, flow rates, pressure drops, and node coordinates required for fire protection system design. They are traditionally generated and opened using specialized engineering suites like Canute FHC or AutoSPRINK. A small fraction of these files are alternatively used as Family Historian Charts, created by Calico Pie's genealogical software.

The .FHC format is highly proprietary and closed. Its biggest disadvantage is that it cannot be opened natively by web browsers or standard text editors. Users who receive these files from contractors often lack the expensive engineering software licenses required to view the actual hydraulic analysis, making collaboration difficult. Users typically need to convert .FHC to PDF for client reporting, CSV to review node data in Microsoft Excel, or DXF to overlay layouts in AutoCAD.

Because it is a niche, closed format, standard online converters fail to process it. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the structured data. However, convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible. Just drag and drop your file to see what it is and convert it if supported.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FHC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted FH4, FH6 and FH files.

The FHC Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our FHC converter.
