About FFL files

The .FFL file extension primarily represents a Game Resource Archive associated with the classic First-Person Shooter Aliens versus Predator 2 (AvP2), running on the LithTech engine. These files function as proprietary containers - similar to ZIP or TAR files - that bundle game assets like audio clips, textures, and interface layouts into a single compressed package. Users typically encounter these files when attempting to mod the game or extract nostalgic sound effects and music.

Because .FFL files are compiled for specific game engines, they cannot be opened by standard archivers like 7-Zip or WinRAR. To "convert" them, you actually need to extract their contents using engine-specific tools like LithRez or WinRez. Once extracted, the internal proprietary formats (like DTX textures) can be further converted into standard JPG, PNG, or WAV files for modern use.

Note: On older Windows systems or backups, an .FFL file might instead be a Microsoft Find Fast Document List (often named ffastun.ffl). These are legacy index files created by older versions of Microsoft Office (95/97) to speed up searches. They contain no usable media or text and are generally safe to delete if found on modern systems.

Convert.Guru analyzes your FFL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted CAZ, OOP and QFC files.
