Extract text from FCS Express layout files (FEY)
To convert FEY layouts to another format, you need FCS Express or other Data software.
To convert other file formats to the "Cytometry Layout Archive" file type, you need software like FCS Express or a similar tool.
The .fey file format is a proprietary Flow Cytometry Analysis Layout file created by FCS Express. Developed by De Novo Software, this format saves a user's scientific workspace layout, including flow cytometry charts, gating strategies, histograms, text boxes, and statistical markers.
The biggest disadvantage of the .FEY format is its heavily closed, proprietary nature. Sharing a .FEY file with a colleague, client, or publisher who lacks an active, expensive FCS Express license is a major roadblock, as they will be entirely unable to open or view the analysis. Furthermore, these files are not supported by web browsers, standard image viewers, or basic document editors.
Because this is a highly specialized format, standard online converters fail to process it into visual documents. If you need a universally readable file for sharing, the ideal conversion targets are PDF, JPG, or PPTX, but these typically must be exported directly from within the FCS Express software.
