About FBS files

The .fbs extension is primarily used for FlatBuffers Schema files by Google FlatBuffers. FlatBuffers is a memory-efficient, cross-platform serialization library. The .fbs file contains plain-text definitions of data structures (tables, structs, enums) used by the flatc compiler to generate language-specific code or validate binary buffers. Alternatively, .fbs files function as proprietary screen recordings created by Blueberry FlashBack Recorder (often a ZIP-based archive) or VNC session recordings from TightVNC. A major disadvantage of schema .fbs files is that they are strictly structural and do not contain the actual payload data, making them functionally useless without the flatc compiler or accompanying binary data. For screen recording .fbs files, the format is locked into a proprietary ecosystem; standard media players like VLC or web browsers cannot open them, forcing you to install specific desktop software just to view a simple screen capture.
