About EV files
The .EV file extension represents a convergence of two distinct worlds: rhythm gaming and hydroacoustic science.
Most frequently, users encounter this format as a Game Event Script associated with modding communities for Friday Night Funkin'. In this context, the file contains scripted instructions for visual effects, camera movements, or character animations synchronized to music. The main drawback here is engine specificity; an .EV file created for one modding engine may not be recognized by another, and because they often lack a standard header, they don't automatically open in code editors. Users typically need to convert these to standard TXT, JSON, or LUA formats to inspect, debug, or migrate the code.
Alternatively, in professional circles, the .EV extension denotes an Echoview Project File created by Echoview Software. These are complex, proprietary containers used to process sonar and echosounder data for fisheries and marine research. The challenge with Echoview files is the high barrier to entry - opening them requires an expensive enterprise license. Scientists and data analysts often need to convert the raw numerical data locked inside these project files into CSV or XLSX (Excel) formats for use in generic statistical tools like MATLAB or RStudio, or export visual echograms to PNG or PDF for publication.
Convert.Guru analyzes your EV file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted MP4, EV6, NM, J, V and K files.
The EV Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our EV converter.
