Convert ETZ to another file type
To convert ETZ model files to another format, you need Edval or other Data software.
Convert a file to ETZ
To convert other file formats to the "Encrypted Schedule Database" file type, you need software like Edval or a similar tool.
About ETZ files
The .ETZ file extension primarily represents an encrypted Edval Timetable file, a proprietary format used by Edval (now part of Tes) for scheduling and timetabling in educational institutions. These files serve as the central database for school schedules, class lists, and teacher allocations.
Because the file is encrypted and designed for single-user access, it can create major obstacles for IT administrators and school staff; you cannot simply double-click to open it without the specific, licensed Edval software installed. Furthermore, the file locks when in use, preventing simultaneous edits on shared network drives.
For most users (teachers, students, parents), the raw .ETZ file is useless. The practical workflow involves converting or exporting the data into accessible formats. For general distribution, the best target is PDF. For administrative data manipulation, users should export to XLSX (Excel) or CSV.
In a secondary capacity (approx. 18%), the extension is utilized as a structural analysis model file for CSI ETABS, a software for building design. These engineering files are similarly locked to the proprietary environment of Computers and Structures, Inc.. Engineers often need to convert these models to DXF or IFC for interoperability with other CAD/BIM tools like AutoCAD or Revit.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ETZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ETZ file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Edval or similar software from the "School Timetable Database" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to ETZ, try Edval or another comparable tool in the "School Timetable Database" category.
The ETZ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ETZ converter.
