Convert ETZ to another file type
To convert ETZ model files to another format, you need Edval Timetabling or other Data software.
Convert a file to ETZ
To convert other file formats to the "Proprietary Encrypted Data" file type, you need software like Edval Timetabling or a similar tool.
About ETZ files
The .etz file format primarily serves two distinct purposes. Most commonly, it is an encrypted school timetable file used by Edval Timetabling Software. It stores highly sensitive scheduling data, including class assignments, teacher rosters, and room allocations. Alternatively, .etz files are used as structural analysis model files by CSI ETABS, holding complex 3D building models and engineering analysis data. These proprietary formats present massive challenges for daily use. Because the Edval variant is encrypted, it is completely inaccessible outside of the proprietary software ecosystem. This forces users to maintain expensive software licenses just to view a schedule. Similarly, CSI ETABS files contain complex, undocumented engineering parameters that cannot be natively read by standard CAD tools without specialized export workflows. These files restrict collaboration with non-engineering stakeholders. For timetable data, users typically want to export the schedule to CSV, XLSX, or PDF to share it easily with students and staff. For ETABS files, exporting to standard CAD formats like DXF, DWG, or IFC is preferred for integration with other Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. These are closed, proprietary formats. Standard online converters fail to process them because the data is either heavily encrypted or relies on undocumented structural algorithms. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. Just drag and drop your file into convert.guru to see what it is and convert it if supported. Our system will identify the format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ETZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ETZ file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Edval Timetabling or similar software from the "Encrypted Data & Structural Modeling" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to ETZ, try Edval Timetabling or another comparable tool in the "Encrypted Data & Structural Modeling" category.
The ETZ Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ETZ converter.
