Major use cases include power analyzer log settings for the Keysight N6700 and E36000 Series, control system debug logs for Crestron 3-Series controllers, and apheresis procedure logs from Terumo BCT medical machines. In a completely different context, it is also used as a game environment data file by developers like Telltale Games and within older Minecraft level formats.
These files are notoriously difficult for standard users to manage. Because they are intimately tied to expensive, highly specific hardware or game engines, you usually need proprietary applications like Agilent Technologies BenchVue or Trima Accel Software to read them. This makes sharing diagnostic data with third-party technicians or external analysts highly restrictive, as they likely lack the required expensive software licenses or hardware dongles.
