About DVO files

.DVO files are proprietary cookbook databases used by the Cook'n recipe organizer software developed by DVO Enterprises. They are designed to store personal collections of recipes, including detailed ingredients, cooking instructions, nutritional facts, meal plans, and attached images.

The major disadvantage of the .DVO format is its rigid proprietary lock-in. You cannot natively view your recipes on a mobile device, open them in a standard web browser, or share them with users who do not own a Cook'n license. This creates a data silo, effectively restricting interoperability and making it difficult to migrate your culinary data to other platforms.

Converting .DVO to universally accepted formats like PDF, TXT, or XML is highly recommended to ensure your recipes remain accessible and printable. However, this format is notoriously difficult to convert. Because it is a closed ecosystem, standard online converters fail to process the complex internal database structures, and often only the original software can properly read or export the formatted data. If our analysis detects this embedded format, viewing or extracting your raw recipe images and text may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your DVO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted QIP, BJG and BHF files.

The DVO Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DVO converter.
