About DRZ files

The .DRZ file extension is essentially a "digital container" used in two distinct, niche environments, often causing confusion due to its opacity.

Most commonly (approx. 40%), a .DRZ file is a Delivery Rule Zip created by the now-defunct Despatch Bay shipping software. These files are not magical binary blobs; they are standard ZIP archives renamed to prevent accidental editing. Users typically encounter these when trying to retrieve historical shipping logic or address rules from legacy systems. The frustration here is the "lock-out" - the software to open them natively no longer exists or is unsupported, leaving users with a file they can't double-click to view.

The second common variant (approx. 24%) is a Daz Studio Compiled Script, associated with the Daz 3D modeling environment. Unlike the user-friendly DUF or DSA text-based scripts, a .DRZ acts effectively as an executable or compiled package, often used to distribute plugins or assets without revealing the source code. These files can trigger security warnings because they sometimes function similarly to EXE containers.

Conversion & Best Practices:

For Despatch Bay Files: The best "conversion" is renaming the extension from .DRZ to ZIP. This allows you to open the archive in Windows Explorer or 7-Zip to extract the XML or text data inside.
For Daz Studio Files: These are proprietary and intended to be run inside Daz Studio. They generally cannot be converted to standard 3D formats (like OBJ or FBX) directly; you must run the script to generate the scene/content first, then export from the software.
