About DPB files

The .DPB file extension is primarily used for proprietary backup files across several distinct software applications. The most common uses include Data-Project backup files, cell phone address books created by Susteen DataPilot, and database backups for Invelos DVD Profiler. You may also encounter .DPB files as HMI screen projects in Delta Electronics DOPSoft or as encrypted password vaults from DigitalPersona or HP Password Manager. Because the .DPB format is utilized by multiple unrelated programs, it suffers from severe vendor lock-in. These files are typically proprietary and closed-source. You cannot natively open them in a web browser or standard text editor. If you do not have the exact original software installed, accessing the internal data is extremely difficult. For example, extracting contacts from an old DataPilot .DPB file often requires legacy software that may not run on modern operating systems. Users usually want to convert .DPB files to standard, open formats like CSV, XML, or VCF (vCard) for contacts, or SQL for database records. This makes the data readable and portable. However, standard online converters fail because the internal structure of a .DPB file depends entirely on which program created it. Many are heavily encrypted or use undocumented binary structures. This file format is notoriously difficult to open or convert directly. Usually, only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, you can use convert.guru. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. Our analysis tools inspect the file signature to detect if it contains a supported underlying or embedded format. If it is an unencrypted database or archive, viewing or partial conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your DPB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted DBP, WJF, MSIM and RRR files.

The DPB Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DPB converter.
