Extract text from DLU files

A .DLU file typically represents one of two very different data streams, creating significant confusion for users attempting to open them.
Most commonly, these are Aviation Data Loader Unit files associated with avionics systems from manufacturers like Honeywell Aerospace. These files are binary blobs used to transfer critical information - such as navigation databases, flight plans, or firmware updates - between a ground computer and an aircraft's Flight Management System (FMS) via a portable Data Loader Unit. The friction here is high: the format is strictly proprietary, unreadable by standard text editors, and often encrypted or checksum-protected to prevent tampering. Engineers often need to convert these binary logs into readable CSV or PDF reports to analyze flight telemetry or verify successful database uploads, but lack the expensive OEM software to do so.
Alternatively, a .DLU file may be a 3ds Max Utility Plugin, used by older versions of Autodesk 3ds Max. These are essentially renamed DLL (Dynamic Link Library) executables that add specific tools to the 3ds Max interface. The main challenge users face is "version lock": a plugin compiled for 3ds Max 2010 will not load in modern versions, leading to silent failures or crash errors. Since these are compiled code, they cannot be "converted" to images or 3D models directly; however, identifying them allows you to rename them to DLL to inspect their dependencies or move them to the correct stdplugs directory.
