About DL4 files
The .DL4 extension primarily represents highly specialized data log files used in industrial and engineering applications. The most common use cases include automated test equipment (ATE) datalogs by Advantest Corporation, pipe fusion joint welding data from the McElroy DataLogger, and vehicle telemetry logs from Woodward MotoTune.
These are closed, proprietary formats. Users are usually locked into expensive ecosystem software just to read basic diagnostic data. Files can be large and contain raw sensor data encoded in non-standard ways, making them fundamentally incompatible with standard tools like Microsoft Excel or web browsers. Extracting the raw data to CSV, TXT, or XML is the primary goal for engineers who need to analyze test results in third-party database tools.
Because .DL4 is a proprietary format, standard online converters fail to process it. Often, only the original hardware software can properly read or export the telemetry or welding parameters. However, you can use convert.guru. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects a supported underlying text or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DL4 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The DL4 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DL4 converter.
