About DISCO files

The .DISCO file format is a legacy XML-based Web Services Discovery document created by Microsoft for the early NET framework. It acts as a static catalog, listing the URLs of available web services (often pointing to WSDL files) on a server so client applications can find and consume them. Historically, developers managed these files using Microsoft Visual Studio. Today, the .DISCO format is obsolete. It relies on a proprietary, outdated ecosystem and has been entirely replaced by modern API protocols like REST, OpenAPI, and GraphQL. The raw XML structure is verbose, rigid, and practically useless outside of legacy SOAP web environments. Opening it without an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) usually results a messy, hard-to-read wall of code. To salvage the endpoint data, you should convert or extract the contents to standard XML, TXT, or JSON. This allows you to migrate the service addresses into modern documentation without keeping the dead format alive. Because .DISCO is a specialized developer artifact, standard online image or document converters cannot process it. Since our analysis detects the underlying XML structure, viewing the raw text and extracting the critical web service links is fast and straightforward.

Convert.Guru analyzes your DISCO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SVC, EXE and WIN files.

The DISCO Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DISCO converter.
