About DAP files
The .DAP file extension is a notorious collision point for completely unrelated file formats, creating significant confusion for users. Most commonly, you are dealing with a Microsoft Access Data Access Page, a legacy web technology used in Microsoft Access 2000-2003 to publish database reports to the web. These files rely on obsolete ActiveX controls that modern browsers (like Chrome or Edge) no longer support, effectively locking your data inside an unreadable HTML wrapper. To view this content today, you must convert the file to a static PDF or extract the raw HTML code.
Alternatively, a .DAP file may be an incomplete download created by Download Accelerator Plus (DAP). In this scenario, the file acts as a placeholder containing partial binary data. Users often try to "convert" these to MP4, ZIP, or EXE, but the file is technically corrupt until the download finishes. If the download is stuck, simply renaming the extension to the intended format (e.g., removing .dap) occasionally works if the file header is intact, but usually, the file is unusable. Other variations include Documill Dynamo document packages (often ZIP-compressed XML) and proprietary Dahao Embroidery patterns. Because of this variety, generic converters often fail; you need a tool that inspects the file header to determine if it is a database report, a text-based document, or a partial binary file.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DAP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert DAP file to MSV, HTML, HTM, CSS, JS, PHP, ASP, ASPX, JSP, JSPX, PY or RB, you can use Microsoft Access or similar software from the "Web Data Access / Partial Download" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert RSS, CSS, CGI, SITEMAP, PL, WEBMANIFEST, JSON, JS, XML, HTML, ICO or HTM files to DAP, try Microsoft Access or another comparable tool in the "Web Data Access / Partial Download" category.
The DAP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our DAP converter.
