About D00 files
The .D00 extension is a notoriously ambiguous filename used primarily in two disparate industries: industrial automation and legacy media archiving.
Most frequently (approx. 21%), a .D00 file is a data log generated by Danfoss compressor controllers. These files contain critical telemetry data - temperatures, pressures, and system states - recorded by the DXL-LogViewer software. The problem is that these logs are often stored in a proprietary binary format or obscure text structure that standard spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel cannot parse natively. Engineers are often forced to install specific, often outdated, utility software just to view a simple graph, making conversion to CSV or XLSX highly desirable for analysis.
Alternatively, a .D00 file often functions as a compressed disk image or a split archive part (Part 00). Software like FarStone VirtualDrive and H+H Software Virtual CD utilized this extension to create digital replicas of physical CDs/DVDs. In this context, the file is virtually useless on its own if it is part of a split set (accompanied by D01, .D02, etc.). Users with these files are typically trying to retrieve old backups or games and face the friction of modern operating systems (Windows 10/11) lacking native support for these legacy virtual drive formats. For these users, the goal is converting the proprietary container into a standard ISO image or extracting the contents directly to a folder.
Convert.Guru analyzes your D00 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert D00 file to ISO, IMG, DMG, VHD, VMDK, VDI, HDD, QCOW, QCOW2, RAW, VBOX or OVA, you can use DXL-LogViewer or similar software from the "Industrial Data Logging" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert VFD, DMG, OVA, IMA, VBOX, ADF, PVS, VHD, OVF, ISO, DSK or IMG files to D00, try DXL-LogViewer or another comparable tool in the "Industrial Data Logging" category.
The D00 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our D00 converter.
