About CWE files

The .CWE extension represents two distinct, proprietary file types that often confuse users due to their incompatibility with standard viewers.

1. SuperBox Satellite Key Update (Primary)

Most commonly, a .CWE file is a cryptographic key update package used by SuperBox and similar IPTV/Satellite receivers. These files contain encrypted instruction sets required to unlock specific channels or update device firmware.

2. CaseWare Compressed Word Executable

Alternatively, this file is a compressed audit record generated by CaseWare Working Papers, a specialized accounting and auditing platform. These files (often script.cwe) facilitate the transfer of engagement files between auditors.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CWE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted AC_, GSA and YYZ files.

The CWE Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CWE converter.
