Convert a file to CQL

To convert other file formats to the "Query Language Script" file type, you need software like Apache Cassandra or a similar tool.

About CQL files

A .CQL file serves one of two distinct technical purposes. In the database world, it is a Cassandra Query Language or Neo4j Cypher Query Language script containing SQL-style syntax to define schemas or query NoSQL databases. The main disadvantage is that these scripts only execute within their specific, non-relational database environments. To share database definitions or migrate schemas, developers often need to convert these .CQL scripts into standard SQL, or execute them to export the query results into universal formats like CSV or JSON.

Alternatively, in the healthcare sector, a .CQL file represents an HL7 Clinical Quality Language file used to define clinical decision support logic and quality measures. While healthcare .CQL files are designed to be human-readable, they cannot be executed directly by healthcare systems. They must be compiled and converted into an Expression Logical Model (ELM), typically formatted as JSON or XML, to become machine-readable. Whether you need to extract text from a database script or prepare clinical logic for ELM conversion, you can instantly translate your .CQL files into more accessible formats.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CQL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ZS, ELD and TJS files.

The CQL Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CQL converter.
