About CPB files
Most .CPB files are Firmware Update Packages used to upgrade hardware, specifically Goldshell cryptocurrency miners or Coolpad Android smartphones. These files act as containers for binary system data, boot images, and configuration scripts.
The Problem: Users often attempt to open these files with standard archivers like 7-Zip or convert them to readable formats like PDF, only to encounter errors or garbled text. Because they contain compiled machine code and file system images (like IMG or BIN), they are not designed to be viewed or edited on a desktop computer. Attempting to "convert" a firmware file to a document format is technically impossible and renders the data useless.
The Solution:
For Goldshell Miners: Do not unzip. Upload the file directly via the miner's web dashboard (System > Unlock > Firmware Upgrade).
For Coolpad Phones: Use the Coolpad Download Assistant (CDA) tool to flash the stock ROM to your device to fix boot loops or update the OS.
For Developers: Advanced users can extract contents using command-line tools like unpackcpb or binwalk to analyze the underlying Linux file systems.
For Comic Creators: If you are using Comicino Studio, the .CPB file is your project source. Open it inside the software to export your work to CBZ, PDF, or PNG for publishing.

The CPB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CPB converter.
