About CODASITE files

A .codasite file stores website configuration settings for Coda, a legacy macOS web development application developed by Panic. It contains server connection details like FTP/SFTP credentials, local and remote paths, and source control preferences.

Because Coda is officially discontinued and unsupported, users often need to migrate this data to modern editors like Visual Studio Code. This format is proprietary and strictly limited to the macOS ecosystem. It is completely useless on Windows machines. Furthermore, standard online converters fail to process it because they expect standard document formats, not proprietary macOS property lists (plists) or application packages.

The best conversion targets are standard text formats like XML, JSON, or TXT. Converting to these formats allows you to read your old server paths and hostnames. However, note that encrypted passwords are saved in the macOS Keychain, so they will not appear in the converted text file.

This file format is difficult to open without a legacy macOS environment. Standard converters cannot read the proprietary Apple structures. If our analysis detects standard XML or text layers inside, viewing or extracting the configuration data is absolutely possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CODASITE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
