About CFE files
The .CFE file extension is highly fragmented and notoriously problematic because it is shared across at least five completely incompatible applications. Most commonly, it acts as a Compound File Entry for Apache Lucene, storing internal search index data. These database files are deeply proprietary, heavily structured, and entirely unreadable outside the Lucene ecosystem. Another major use case is for encrypted vaults created by CryptoForge. If your file is encrypted, conversion is mathematically impossible without the original decryption software and your secret password. Standard online converters will always fail here. Furthermore, 1C:Enterprise uses the extension for proprietary external components, and IBM SPSS Modeler uses it for extension packages. Interestingly, the SPSS .CFE files are just standard .ZIP archives in disguise, and a rare web video caching module uses the extension for standard .MP4 streamed H.264 video. Because this format is highly ambiguous and typically represents closed, proprietary data, generic web tools cannot process it safely. Our advanced analysis engine can look past the confusing extension, identify the true underlying signature, and extract internal text or media if the file happens to be an unencrypted archive or video stream.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CFE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted CEF, ZIP, FDT, DIRECTORYSTOREFILE and SEGMENTS_1 files.

The CFE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CFE converter.
