The .cch extension is a notoriously ambiguous filename used by three distinct ecosystems, creating significant friction for users trying to open them. Most frequently, it represents a Code Access Security cache generated by the Microsoft .NET Framework. These are binary system files, often hidden, that store security policy information to speed up application loading; they are not meant to be viewed or edited, and attempting to force-open them in a text editor yields gibberish. A second, legacy use case is a vector chart file created by the now-discontinued CorelCHART, part of older CorelDRAW suites.
