About BTF files

The .btf file extension is primarily used for two completely different, highly specialized formats. First, it serves as a Bow-tie risk analysis file created by BowTieXP. These are proprietary files used in enterprise risk management to visualize hazards. A major disadvantage is that they are extremely difficult to share with stakeholders who do not pay for expensive software licenses. Second, .btf is used as a BigTIFF microscopy image file by Olympus cellSens and VS200 slide scanners. Regular TIFF files are limited to 4GB. BigTIFF was created to store massive, high-resolution scientific image scans. However, standard image viewers often freeze or crash when trying to process them. Users usually need to convert BigTIFF .btf files to standard TIFF, PNG, or JPG for publication or web sharing, though this requires downscaling or cropping to avoid size limits. A third, minor use is for game localization text files in the game World in Conflict. Because these formats are either highly proprietary or specialized, they are difficult to open or convert online. Online converters usually fail to process the proprietary risk models or lack the memory to handle the massive multi-gigabyte sizes of BigTIFFs. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your BTF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted JPG, PDF, BTW, PNG, BMC, SID and RSL files.

The BTF Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our BTF converter.
