The .BSL extension is a classic example of file extension collision, meaning it serves two completely different masters: video game modding and industrial furniture design.
Most commonly (approx. 29% of cases), a .BSL file is a Bash Skip List used by the Wrye Bash mod manager for Bethesda Softworks games like Skyrim or Oblivion. These are simple text instructions telling the mod installer which sub-packages to ignore. The friction here is trivial but annoying: Windows does not treat them as text, forcing you to manually associate them with a text editor. Converting these to TXT makes them universally readable for debugging your mod load order.
However, if you are in the manufacturing sector, your .BSL file is likely a proprietary Furniture Project file created by Bazis-Center software (Bazis-Mebel). These files contain 3D geometry, cutting lists, and assembly instructions. They are notoriously closed-off; you cannot open them in standard CAD tools like AutoCAD or Blender without conversion. For these, you must convert to an interchange format like DXF or OBJ to collaborate with clients who don't own the expensive Bazis suite.
Less frequently, these files are binary session logs from Amadeus GDS, which are illegible without specific decoding tools.
