About BSG files

The .bsg file stores custom machine blueprints created in the physics-based building game Besiege. It saves precise block placement, structural joints, custom parameter settings, and mechanical keybindings for user-created siege engines. The format is managed exclusively by the game, which is developed by Spiderling Studios.
This is a closed, proprietary game data format. A major disadvantage is that it does not store standard 3D geometry, such as vertices and polygons. Instead, it stores an array of game-specific block IDs and vector coordinates. Standard online converters fail to process .bsg files because they lack universal 3D data and require the Unity game engine environment to render the actual visual models.
Users often want to convert .bsg files to standard 3D formats like OBJ or STL for 3D printing or rendering in software like Blender. However, this requires specialized community mods that extract the mesh data directly from the running game.
