About BFC files

The .bfc file extension has several distinct uses, making it heavily dependent on the creating software. It is most commonly a Reinforced Concrete Drawing file used by CADS RC software. It can also be a Fontconfig Binary Cache generated by the fontconfig library, a Brainfuck source code file, a cached image in Corel PaintShop Pro, or an obsolete Windows Briefcase file by Microsoft. Users often need to convert these files because they are tied to proprietary software or specific system architectures. For example, CADS RC drawing files cannot be opened by standard viewers, requiring conversion to DWG, DXF, or PDF to share with contractors. Fontconfig caches are system-specific binary files that cannot be transferred between different operating systems. PaintShop Pro cache files are actually embedded PNG files disguised by the .bfc extension, which confuses standard image viewers. This file format is notoriously difficult to open or convert because most variants are either proprietary CAD data, compiled binary caches, or esoteric code.
