About AVF files

The .AVF file format primarily functions as a proprietary digital video recording container used by CCTV security systems, digital video recorders (DVRs) utilizing HiSilicon chips, Arion digital TV receivers, and capture cards from AVerMedia. In secondary contexts, the .AVF extension stores sports timing data for MYLAPS Orbits software or paragliding flight logs. You typically need the specific hardware manufacturer's proprietary playback software, such as AVerMedia Player or a dedicated CCTV client, to open these video files natively. The fundamental disadvantage of the .AVF format is its closed, fragmented nature. To ensure continuous recording without file corruption during sudden power failures, DVRs write these files without standard container headers. Consequently, common software like Windows Media Player or standard web browsers completely fail to recognize the file. It is a highly restrictive format that locks you into using obscure or outdated desktop applications. Because of these severe limitations, users frequently need to convert .AVF files to universal targets like MP4, AVI, or MKV so they can easily share security footage with law enforcement, clients, or upload it online. Standard online converters generally fail to process .AVF files because each DVR manufacturer subtly alters the internal structure, creating dozens of undocumented variations under a single file extension. If our system detects a supported underlying or embedded format, such as a raw H.264 video stream or plain text timing data, viewing or conversion may still be successful.

Convert.Guru analyzes your AVF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted AVIF, ASF, BNP, VEP, WEBM and AVA files.
