About APD files

The .APD file extension is heavily fragmented and most commonly acts as a proprietary data container. Its primary use is as an Orthopedic foot measurement data file generated by podiatry scanners and managed by pedcad software. Alternatively, it functions as an arcplan business intelligence document, which stores corporate reporting dashboards using an underlying XML structure. Other minor applications include heat meter data archives for Teplocom VKT/VIS.T meters, Eclipse plugin descriptors, and ACDSee Photo Documents.

The main disadvantage of .APD files is their strictly proprietary nature. Medical professionals using pedcad are locked into the manufacturer's ecosystem, as standard medical imaging viewers cannot process pedcad's specific pressure map encoding. Similarly, legacy arcplan users struggle to migrate their BI documents to modern platforms like Tableau because the formatting is highly application-specific. Users often need to convert these files to standardized formats - like PDF or STL for medical data, or CSV and JSON for BI data - to ensure long-term accessibility.

This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert externally because standard online converters lack the specific parsing engines required for niche orthopedic or BI data. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data natively. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - such as the XML tree inside an arcplan document - viewing or conversion to generic data formats may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your APD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PDF, TTP, TST and VIS files.

The APD Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our APD converter.
